Make it clear that it's not their fault, they will be taken care of, and you will always love them. Avoid blaming the other parent.

Listen carefully to their concerns, treat their questions seriously, and answer their questions as honestly and openly as you can.

Many changes are out of your control, and your unconditional love and patience are what will get your kid through this transition.

Be cautious and thoughtful about introducing new people into their lives.
